The Ministry of Education and Science welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Kosovo Team (UNKT), as part of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and sustainable development.
Minister of Education, Hajrulla Çeku, emphasized that the Ministry is in the process of finalizing the four‑year program of reforms in education and science. He highlighted as key priorities: expanding access to preschool education, implementing full‑day schooling from grades one through nine, strengthening vocational education through the dual system, and reforming higher education by profiling public universities, with the aim of improving the quality and efficiency of the education system.
For his part, the UN Coordinator in Kosovo, Stephen O’Malley, stressed that the UN is in the final stage of its new strategic plan, which is based on three main pillars: developing human capital, strengthening accountable governance and the rule of law, and promoting sustainable economic growth. He underlined that education remains a key priority, as the foundation for long‑term development and the empowerment of human potential in Kosovo.
Both parties valued the importance of close institutional cooperation and the alignment of development programs with national priorities, agreeing to continue coordination in implementing reforms in the education sector.
