Government Approves Draft Law on the State Matura Exam

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in its eighth meeting, approved the draft law on the State Matura Exam, marking an important step in advancing the quality and credibility of the country’s education system.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, emphasized that through this draft law a new standard of seriousness and meritocracy in education is established, consolidating the Matura Exam as a fair and reliable mechanism for all students. According to him, this reform values the work of students and guarantees society a fairer, more credible, and more competitive education system.

“The draft law ensures clear rules for the holding, organization, and administration of exams, protecting the rights of candidates and strengthening institutional responsibility. It creates an assessment system that realistically reflects students’ knowledge and preparation, far from randomness or improvisation,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Përparim Kryeziu, in his presentation outlined the content and justification of the draft law. He stressed that the draft law defines the status of the Matura Exam in the education system, its content, conditions and manner of administration, the rights of candidates, and the responsible structures for organizing and managing this process.
