The Ministry of Education and Science announces that the call for applications to the Fulbright Visiting Research Program for Doctoral Students for the academic year 2027–2028 is now open. The program enables PhD students from Kosovo to conduct research at a U.S. university in support of their doctoral studies.

The grant lasts from three to seven months and covers tuition and university fees, monthly living expenses, health insurance, and international travel. The program is jointly funded by the U.S. Department of State and the Government of Kosovo, with selection based on an open and competitive merit-based process.

Eligible applicants are citizens of the Republic of Kosovo enrolled in PhD programs in Kosovo or abroad, with preference given to those studying in Kosovo. Applicants must have good English language skills and meet the requirements for the J-1 visa, which requires returning and residing in Kosovo for at least two years after the grant ends.

The program is open to several fields of study including education, computer science, engineering, economics, law, political science, psychology, sociology, biological sciences, mathematics, communication, journalism, and other fields.

Applications must include: Research Objectives, Personal Statement, Study Plan responses, at least three professional references, academic transcripts and diplomas, proof of current academic status, and a copy of the passport. Selected candidates will take the TOEFL test during the selection process.

Documents not issued in English must be accompanied by an official English translation.
