At the invitation of the Acting Minister of Education and Science, Hajrulla Çeku, a meeting was held today between representatives of central and local public institutions, school institutions, universities, teachers, parents, pupils, and students. This was the first meeting in this format. Participants included: Muhamet Gjoka, Chair of the Collegium of Municipal Directors of Education; Rrahman Jasharaj, President of JUESC; Ymer Ymeri, Secretary General of SBASHK; Mentor Alishani, Chair of the Conference of Rectors; Linda Dula Halilabazi, Vice Chair of the Parents’ Council of Kosovo; Merita Dili Hasani, Secretary of the Collegium of Directors of Preschool Institutions; Donart Humolli, Vice Chair of the Student Parliament of the University of Prishtina; and Kaon Krasniqi, Chair of the Children’s Assembly of the Capital.

The central theme of the meeting was preparations for the beginning of the new school year and the process of drafting the new 10-year state education strategy. The discussions were substantive and conducted in a positive and constructive spirit. The parties welcomed the invitation, the format of the meeting, and highly valued the cooperative approach, agreeing to hold regular meetings in this format. Emphasizing the developmental importance of education in the country and the readiness to work together with commitment on drafting the new education strategy and implementing reforms that guarantee quality in education, at this meeting the declaration of commitment for education 2035+ was signed.

COMMITMENT FOR EDUCATION 2035+

We, representatives of central and local public institutions, school institutions, universities, teachers, parents, pupils, and students, united around the vision for education in Kosovo, declare that:

Education is the most important developmental project of Kosovo and requires cooperation beyond institutional, political, and social differences.

The State Education Strategy 2035+ will be drafted as a joint process, where each of us will contribute with full commitment.

The implementation of the State Education Strategy 2035+ remains a continuous process, which goes beyond any governing mandate and is based on the cooperation of all institutions and education stakeholders.

We commit to support and implement reforms that guarantee quality education, equal opportunities for every child, and link education with the development of Kosovo.

We engage to build a broad social consensus by expanding this partnership with other public sectors, political forces, the private sector, civil society, the academic community, and development partners.
