Linking higher education with the defense industry opens pathways for young engineers

At the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Prishtina, a discussion was held between students, faculty members, and the Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, regarding the development of Kosovo’s defense industry and the opportunities this sector offers for new professional cadres.

The event was also attended by Arta Berisha, Advisor to the Acting Minister of Education and Science, Hajrulla Çeku.

During the discussion, opportunities were presented for students from four faculties: the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FECE), the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME), the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (FSHMN), and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture (FCEA), with particular emphasis on their direct involvement in the project of Kosovo’s first ammunition factory.

It was further highlighted that profiles in mechanical, electrical, computer engineering, mechatronics, and robotics are essential in strengthening Kosovo’s production and defense capacities.

The Ministry of Education and Science reaffirms its full coordination between higher education and the defense industry, ensuring that our students are provided with concrete opportunities for professional development.
